Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could help the team enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This means them few options but to head to the remote area in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Fans can look forward to finding out which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
